Data Science sits at the core of Coinbase's product development and decision-making. By working closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams, we aim to influence the roadmap while deepening our understanding of users. Leveraging our expertise in experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling, we generate insights that directly enhance the company's performance.

We are currently seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our Retail Trading Team, where you will take the lead on pricing experiments and play a crucial role in defining our pricing strategy. Your responsibilities will include leading test designs and analyses, identifying opportunities to boost engagement and profitability, and effectively communicating your insights to executives and leadership throughout the organization.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to establish the pricing vision and priorities.

• Design and implement pricing models and frameworks to develop optimal pricing strategies.

• Create causal models to isolate fee change effects using experiments and observational data.

• Initiate and maintain data pipelines and models with high quality and skill.

• Translate findings into actionable recommendations and convey them effectively to senior leadership.

What we look for in you:

• Embodiment of our core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.

• PhD preferred, or a Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pricing experimentation, data analysis, and statistical modeling.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other analytical programming languages.

• Ability to independently manage analytics projects with a proven track record of overseeing complex initiatives across teams.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex data to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with causal inference techniques beyond controlled experiments.

• Background in a cryptocurrency-focused company or exchange.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this role ranges from $180,370 to $212,200 USD, depending on work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase include bonus eligibility, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
