A Day In the Life
Hertz’s TNC (Transportation Network Companies) team builds the backbone for partnerships with leading rideshare platforms such as Uber and Lyft. The team delivers large-scale integrations that connect Hertz vehicles with advanced mobility services, shaping the future of transportation.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop: Architect and implement backend systems that support high-volume, low-latency integrations between Hertz and TNC partners.
- Full stack contributions: Build user-facing features using modern web and backend frameworks.
- Project lifecycle: Participate in requirements analysis, design, proof-of-concept, development, testing, launch, and ongoing support.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and external partners to define requirements and deliver business-aligned solutions.
- Technical leadership: Share knowledge, mentor team members, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and architectural enhancements.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience. 2–4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Backend proficiency: Strong development experience in at least one modern backend language such as Java, C++, Python, or Go.
- Frontend proficiency: Experience with React JavaScript framework is a plus.
- Data & API skills: Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL or NoSQL databases, and API design and development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
- Cloud: Experience developing and deploying solutions on AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar cloud environments; containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Development workflow: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile methodologies.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with external partners.
- Growth mindset: Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving business needs.
- Bonus: Experience with telematics, mobility platforms, ride-sharing systems, or third-party integrations.
Compensation
Expected starting salary is approximately $90,000, commensurate with experience.
