The Oracle Health Data Services (OHDS) team is at the heart of our software solutions, playing a vital role in the transformation, enrichment, persistence, and delivery of large-scale health and life sciences data for both AI and traditional use cases.

We are seeking a Senior Principal Software Developer to lead the evolution of our data platform architecture. In this key position, you will guide the strategic direction of our architecture and act as the technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering projects that create scalable data processing, storage, and retrieval mechanisms for both AI-driven and traditional applications. Collaborating closely with product management, applied science, and multiple development teams, you will enhance our software systems to drive better customer outcomes. Your leadership will promote operational excellence and best practices, enabling the delivery of highly scalable and reliable cloud-based software products.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the complete architecture for a multi-tenant data platform that supports AI, agentic, and traditional analytics workloads, including ingestion, transformation, indexing, storage, and serving layers.
• Create and deliver software features that promote the adoption of the data platform across AI-first and agent-based architectures.
• Leverage your technical expertise to effectively diagnose and resolve complex challenges occurring within the design or implementation of our technology.
• Ensure that our platform architectures and operations adhere to standards for scalability, reliability, resilience, security, compliance, and cost efficiency in regulated healthcare settings.
• Establish and promote AI-assisted engineering practices that enhance productivity, reliability, and engineering effectiveness at scale.

Qualifications

Applicants should have 12+ years of relevant experience, along with a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience related to the functional area.

• Expertise in Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Thorough understanding of cloud concepts and native services across OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP, with the ability to apply this knowledge to develop and manage cloud-hosted software solutions.
• Strong familiarity with distributed storage systems, including data warehouses and lakehouse/table formats.
• Hands-on experience with streaming and CDC, as well as large-scale batch processing (using technologies like Spark, Flink, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

We also value knowledge and experience in:

• Multi-modal persistence patterns such as relational, document, vector, and graph storage.
• Search (lexical, vector, hybrid) and retrieval methods for AI applications.
• Applied large language models/NLP for tasks such as extraction, entity resolution/linking, and data enrichment.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance measures, including classification/tagging, lineage, retention, audit logs, access controls, and secure handling of PHI/PII.

The hiring range for this role is between $96,800 and $251,600 per year. Candidates may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and compensation deferral.
