Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
As an Applied Scientist on the Generative AI Service team, you will spearhead the development of scalable, high-performance AI model training and serving systems in collaboration with fellow applied scientists and software engineers. You will optimize model structures for enhanced performance and scalability while utilizing the latest technologies in this rapidly evolving field. Be instrumental in shaping the future of Generative AI at Oracle, focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Multi-modality Models. Your work will be crucial in delivering our Generative AI services to large enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers to align business and product requirements with AI initiatives.
- Partner with technical leaders to ensure timely delivery of models and integration of services.
- Coordinate with global teams to transition projects from research to production-ready solutions.
- Develop innovative OCI services and features harnessing breakthroughs in generative AI, machine learning, and deep learning.
- Design and evaluate the architecture for generative AI systems, applying best practices across data, models, training, and evaluation.
- Lead and mentor machine learning engineers at various experience levels.
- Create production-quality code while promoting the best coding and engineering practices.
- Engage in planning, reviewing, and retrospective project sessions.
- Identify and mitigate risks at the intersection of business and engineering.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to incorporate evaluation capabilities and explore new technological opportunities.
What You'll Bring: (Minimum Qualifications)
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics, or related field, with a focus on Machine Learning and Deep Learning, by December 2025.
- Proficient programming skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Strong technical knowledge of Machine Learning, Deep Learning architectures such as Transformers, and training methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with LLM technologies and generative AI methodologies, including parameter-efficient fine-tuning and advanced prompt engineering.
- Experience with LLM frameworks and plugins like LangChain, LlamaIndex, VectorStores, and LLMOps.
- Background in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Software Development with research and innovation experience.
- Practical experience in fields such as ASR, TTS, translation, or conversational AI.
- Proven analytical skills and problem-solving abilities in AI/ML or language processing.
- Experience designing data collection and evaluation systems for production environments.
- Commitment to staying updated and applying findings to solve business challenges.
- Strong publication record in reputable journals or conferences, either as author or reviewer.
- Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.
- Able to obtain work authorization in the US by 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with LLM and delivering Generative AI models highly valued.
- Familiarity with recent advancements in computer vision and multimodal modeling is a plus.
- Strong grasp of machine learning algorithms.
- Open-source contributions to the AI/ML community.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary Range: The hiring range in the US is $97,500 to $199,500 annually, with eligibility for bonuses and equity based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
