What you'll be able to do:
Feature Systems Engineer - Prognostics - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Dearborn office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Dearborn, MI. Develop a system level understanding across software, hardware and data related to a suite of prognostics features. Develop data-driven approaches to collecting and analyzing Connected Vehicle Data or large data sets. Create and review Design Verification Plans to validate assigned engineering features. Responsible for end-to-end issue resolution at time of system integration. Evaluate potential design options to make appropriate proposals considering feature requirements, available technology, efficiency, and platform capabilities. Develop test cases that exercise and verify the robustness of prognostic algorithms. Participate in cross-functional discussions to gather business requirements and technical expertise and translate them into tangible requirements and feature implementation plans to drive feature development. Interface with Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) to integrate smartphone technology into the overall customer service experience of the future. Drive change requirements for feature enhancements and quality improvements. Support the development of engineering deliverables in Failure Modes Analysis (FMA), feature interface documents and cybersecurity threat modeling. Develop and author product-specific requirements, evaluating quality and aiding to triage issues to determine root cause. Author and manage Key Performance Indicator dashboards, tracking metrics and providing critical feedback around customer experience. Domestic and International Travel Required up to 10%.
You'll have…
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science and 5 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Using Matlab Simulink to generate prognostics C++ models to be integrated with ECUs. 2. Leveraging dyno in driver dynamic lab, e-Daq system to collect vibration data from in vehicle accelerometers for underbody prognostics feature design. 3. Utilizing system architecture concepts, interface definition, and allocate functions to different components (logical and physical) modeled using SysML. 4. Using hardware, software development processes, communication networks (CAN, LIN, and Ethernet), sensors, actuators, and vehicle dynamics. 5. Performing failure, functional safety, and cyber security assessments and solving complex technical issues (Sensor communication, diagnostics, durability and data transfer issues) that occur during underbody prognostics feature development, adhering to automotive safety standards (including ISO 26262) and reliability principles. 6. Eliciting, analyzing, documenting, validating, and tracing requirements throughout the development lifecycle using Jama. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Using Gerkins to model cloud-to-vehicle modem communications. 2. Applying network communication protocols, transport protocols, and payload optimization techniques. 3. Using SQL on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to create/partition, decode and analyze vibration and CAN data. 4. Implementing system integration of prognostics application on Rigil/Enhanced central gateway.
We are offering a salary of $121,784.00 - $190,500.00/yr.
