Your Role and Responsibilities

Join our expanding team of experts as a Senior Consultant, Data Engineering Specialist. In this role, you will be pivotal in designing and developing advanced solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud. Your responsibilities will cover data ingestion pipelines, data architecture, governance, and security. We seek a skilled data pipeline builder and migration expert who thrives on optimizing data systems and constructing them from the ground up.

As a Senior Consultant, you will create innovative database architectures and data warehouses, ensuring that optimal data delivery frameworks are consistently applied across ongoing projects. You will lead technical teams and enjoy the exciting task of supporting customers' next-generation data initiatives.

Note: As of April 2025, Hakkoda will be integrated into the IBM organization, and your recruitment process will be directly managed by IBM.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Expert in evaluating, selecting, and integrating technologies for complex data challenges.
• Leadership experience in architectural decisions for high-throughput data ingestion frameworks, including real-time processing and analytics.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers on best practices for data ingestion, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years in relevant technical roles such as data management, database development, ETL, data warehousing, and pipelines.
• Experience in designing and developing data warehouses (e.g., Teradata, Oracle Exadata, Netezza, SQL Server, Spark).
• Practical experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like DataStage, Informatica, or Matillion.
• Proficient in SQL scripting.
• Cloud experience on AWS; familiarity with Azure and GCP is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python scripting; knowledge of Scala is required.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an action-oriented mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on client relationship building.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• Background in hiring, developing, and managing technical teams.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Advanced knowledge of the Snowflake Platform: Experience with advanced features, including data sharing, pipelines, and security. Ability to design and implement complex data and AI use cases using Snowflake.

Cloud Architecture Expertise: Experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure cloud architectures for data and AI applications, alongside cloud migration, deployment, and management best practices.

Data Engineering Best Practices: Familiarity with data modeling, warehousing, and governance alongside the ability to optimize data and AI solutions for performance and scalability.
